Summary

In today’s meeting, the committee discussed ongoing cases.

As the first item, the committee discussed a case concerning a report submitted to the committee about the decision to ban plastic PET bottles below 500 ml. Once the floor was opened to the members for discussion, West Mafannu constituency member Mohamed Musthafa Ibrahim proposed meeting with the Ministry of Environment, the Business Council and the Ministry of Health to clarify the impact of this ban. He also proposed forming a subcommittee to review this matter. Both proposals were seconded by Mulaku constituency member Ibrahim Naufal.

All the members present voted unanimously in favour of the proposals.

After that, West Mafannu constituency member Mohamed Musthafa Ibrahim proposed that the subcommittee be mandated to review the case regarding the decision to ban plastic PET bottles below 500 ml and finalize the report.

Then Mathiveri constituency member Hassan Zareer nominated the committee chairman South Mafannu constituency member Abdulla Rifau, Keyodhoo constituency member Mohamed Niushad and West Mafannu constituency member Mohamed Musthafa Ibrahim for the subcommittee. This proposal was seconded by Hithaadhoo constituency member Mohamed Siruhaan.

All members present voted unanimously in favour of this proposal.
