Foreign Relations Committee's 8th Meeting of 2026.

Summary

During the meeting, the committee reviewed presidential appointments for the following Non-Resident Ambassadors:

 

Ms. Mariyam Midhfa Naeem (Ma. Rukkuri) to the Kingdom of Cambodia and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

 

Mr. Hassan Adam (H. Naseemee Villa) to the Hellenic Republic.

 

Azim Abdul Azeez, Member for the Villingili Constituency, proposed the appointment of Ms. Mariyam Midhfa Naeem pursuant to Article 115(d) of the Constitution and Article 14 of the Maldives Foreign Service Act (Act No. 20/2021). The proposal was seconded by Ibrahim Hussain, Member for the South Fuvahmulah Constituency, and passed unanimously.

 

Subsequently, Member Azim Abdul Azeez proposed the appointment of Mr. Hassan Adam to the Hellenic Republic under the same legal provisions. This motion was also seconded by Member Ibrahim Hussain and passed unanimously by all members present.

 

Finally, the committee reviewed the 2024 Annual Report of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and its 20 diplomatic missions. Specifically, the committee discussed the annual reports from the Consulate General of the Maldives in Thiruvananthapuram, India, and the Maldives High Commission in Malaysia.
