Public Accounts Committee
26 Apr 2026 Number M20/M/ML/2026/04
In today's meeting, the committee sat with delegates from the Canadian Audit and Accountability Foundation and the Auditor General's Office to identify the current needs of the committee and to discuss ways to further strengthen the collaboration between the Committee and the Auditor General's Office. The Canadian Audit and Accountability Foundation highlighted that it is challenging for the committee of review every audit report published by the Auditor General’s Office and advised the Committee to consult with Auditor General’s Office to identify the audit reports that needs to be prioritized. The Foundation also noted that the Audit Report's review process can be strengthened by consulting with the Auditor General's Office to identify the main issues raised in the audit reports and giving recommendations on those issues. In addition, the Foundation highlighted that they provide training on the effective review of the audit reports, questioning government institutions, and proposing committee recommendations.
