Summary
The first item on the agenda was the election of a Chairperson to preside over the Committee pursuant to Article 163 of the Standing Orders of the 20th Majlis, as both the Chairperson and Deputy Chairperson were unable to attend the meeting. The election process was presided over by Assistant Director General of Accounts, Niusa Ahmed Naseer.
When the floor was opened for nominations, Dhangethi Constituency Member Abdulla Rasheed nominated Ali Fazad for the position of Chairperson. The nomination was seconded by South Hulhumale’ Constituency Member Dr. Ahmed Shamheed.
The motion was passed unanimously by the members present at the time of voting.
Next, the Committee reviewed the request submitted by the President for parliamentary approval of the 12 Ministers appointed on 14 April 2026 and the 2 Ministers appointed on 15 April 2026, pursuant to Article 129(a) of the Constitution.
When the floor was opened for discussion on how to proceed with the two matters, Dhidhdhoo Constituency Member Abdul Latheef Mohamed proposed that both matters be considered and decided together. The proposal was seconded by Dhangethi Constituency Member Abdulla Rasheed.
The motion was passed unanimously by the members present at the time of voting.
As it had been decided to consider the two matters together, Vilufushi Constituency Member Hassan Waheed proposed to approve the appointments of all 14 Ministers appointed by the President on 14 and 15 April 2026. The proposal was seconded by Ihavandhoo Constituency Member Ahmed Naseer.
The motion was passed unanimously by the members present at the time of voting.
