Summary

In today’s meeting, members met with the officials of Ministry of Health, Family and Welfare regarding the issue, raising concern about failure of the ministry to formulate regulations under the Act number 6/2024 (Food Safety Act). According to the ministry, after merging some of the regulations a total of 14 regulations need to be formulated under the Act, out of which 2 have been published in government gazette. They also stated that except 4 regulations all others are currently in the gazette stage and that work on the remaining regulations is expected to be completed by August 2026. They also reported that the drafting of regulations was delayed due to insufficient budget, and that the regulations are currently being formulated by consultants funded by Asian Development Bank (ADB).
