Summary
Today, the committee reviewed the President’s referral regarding the appointment of an Elections Commission member in accordance with Section 4 (b) of Elections Commission Act (Act No.: 8/2008).
Once the chair opened the floor for members’ input, Baarashu Constituency Member Ibrahim Shujau proposed and Kolamaafushi Constituency Member Ibrahim Didi seconded the following: Setting, 22nd June 2026 as the deadline to complete the committee’s work on the President’s referral regarding the appointment of an Elections Commission member, to form an administrative panel of 3 employees as per the Standing Order of the People’s Majlis to examine the eligibility of the candidates, with the nominees being Uza. Shahzadh Saeed (Legal Officer) and Fathimath Nadha (Senior Committee Officer) and Aishath Rifa (Senior Officer), to open for public comments until 21st June 2026 and to interview the candidates nominated by the President on 22nd June 2026.
This proposal was approved unanimously by all the members present.
