Summary
During today's meeting, from the matter referred to the committee during the 2nd sitting of the second session of 2026, held on 15 June 2026, concerning the President's proposal to appoint Non-Resident Ambassadors to four countries, the committee proceeded with reviewing the appointment of M. Rulhufushi, Dr. Maryam Shabeena Ahmed, currently the Ambassador of the Maldives to Malaysia, as the Non-Resident Ambassador of the Maldives to the Republic of Indonesia.
Accordingly, the member for the South Constituency, Ibrahim Hussain proposed, to recommend that the Parliament grant its approval for the appointment of M. Rulhufushi, Dr. Maryam Shabeena Ahmed currently the Ambassador of the Maldives to Malaysia, as the Non-Resident Ambassador of the Maldives to the Republic of Indonesia. This proposal was seconded by the member for the Maafannu South Constituency, Abdulla Rifau, and was passed unanimously by the members present on the committee.
Additionally, from the 2024 annual reports submitted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and its 20 diplomatic missions, the committee reviewed the Annual Report of the Embassy of the Maldives in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
