Summary
In today's meeting, the committee reviewed two issues submitted to the committee. The first item the committee discussed was the report on the 2025 follow-up visit to the Kudahuvadhoo Police Station, which assessed the implementation of the recommendations made by the National Preventive Mechanism (NPM) in 2014 and 2021. . Vaikaradhoo Constituency Member Hussain Ziyad proposed To inquire from Maldives Police Service, the implementation of the recommendations made after the visits to the Kudahuvadhoo Police Station in NPM’s Follow-up visit report in 2025 and to follow up on the details of the efforts being made to implement the outstanding issues, and whether the changes being made by the government to the police stations will address these issues. This proposal was seconded by South Kulhudhuffushi Constituency Member Faruhath Mohamed.
Secondly, the committee discussed on the issue of students dropping out of school due to bullying, harassment, and sexual harassment, as well as the need for investigations and appropriate safety measures. Huraa Constituency Member Dr. Anara Naeem, made two proposals. Firstly, the committee should share the details provided by Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Skills Development to the complainant. Second, the committee to inquire whether schools are complying with the Ministry's guidelines and whether they have sufficient resources to address these issues. This proposal was seconded by Dhaandhoo Constituency Member Mohamed Fazeel.
