Summary
During today's meeting, the committee reviewed the matters forwarded by the President regarding the appointment of Non-Resident Ambassadors to four countries, which were referred to the committee during the 2nd sitting of the second session of 2026, held on 15 June 2026.
In this regard, the committee proceeded with reviewing the matters sent by the President concerning the appointments of:
- H. Meenaz, Dr. Hala Hameed as the Non-Resident Ambassador of the Maldives to the Republic of South Africa;
- Gulzaaruge, GDh. Thinadhoo, Ms. Aminath Abdulla Didi as the Non-Resident Ambassador of the Maldives to the Czech Republic; and
- H. Athireege, Mr. Ameen Javid Faisal as the Non-Resident Ambassador of the Maldives to the Islamic Republic of Mauritania and the Republic of Kenya.
Accordingly, the Member for the Villigili Constituency Azim Abdul Azeez proposed to approve the appointment of H.Meenaaz, Dr. Hala Hameed as the Non-Resident Ambassador of the Maldives to the Republic of South Africa, pursuant to Article 115(d) of the Constitution and Article 14 of the Maldives Foreign Service Act (Act No. 20/2021). The proposal was seconded by the Member for the North Mahchangolhi Constituency, brahim Mohamed, and passed unanimously.
Subsequently, the Member for Hinnavaru Constituency, Mohamed Abdul Rahman, proposed to approve the appointment of Gulzaaruge, GDh. Thinadhoo, Ms. Aminath Abdulla Didi as the Non-Resident Ambassador of the Maldives to the Czech Republic, pursuant to Article 115(d) of the Constitution and Article 14 of the Maldives Foreign Service Act (Act No. 20/2021). The proposal was seconded by the Member for Villigili Constituency, Azim Abdul Azeez, and passed unanimously.
Lastly, the Member for the South Fuvahmulah Constituency, Ibrahim Hussain proposed to approve the appointment of H. Athireege, Mr. Ameen Javid Faisal as the Non-Resident Ambassador of the Maldives to the Islamic Republic of Mauritania and the Republic of Kenya, pursuant to Article 115(d) of the Constitution and Article 14 of the Maldives Foreign Service Act (Act No. 20/2021). The proposal was seconded by the Member for the Kulhudhuffushi North Constituency, Mohamed Dawood, and passed unanimously.
