Summary
In today's meeting, the Committee reviewed the issues sent by the President regarding the appointment of Al-Usthaza Fathimath Dhiyana (Goranvila, S. Hulhudhoo) as the Ambassador of the Republic of Maldives to the Kingdom of Belgium and the European Union and the appointment of the ambassador to the Saudi Arabia Mr. Ahmed Sareer (M.Westside) as the non-resident Ambassador to the Kingdom of Bahrain.
Regarding the issue sent by the President on the appointment of Al-Usthaza Fathimath Dhiyana (Goranvila, S. Hulhudhoo) as the Ambassador of the Republic of Maldives to the Kingdom of Belgium and the European Union, the committee decided to finalize the issue at another meeting as the matter needs to be reviewed further.
Next, the committee reviewed the issue sent by the president on the appointment of the ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Mr. Ahmed Sareer (M.Westside) as the non-resident Ambassador to the Kingdom of Bahrain. Consequently, South Maafannu Constituency Member Abdulla Rifau proposed to set a review deadline of 20th July 2026 and suggested that there was no need to clear the nominee's records with the relevant authorities or conduct an interview, as the said nominee is currently an active Ambassador. This was seconded by Villigili Constituency Member Azim Abdul Azeez. The motion was passed unanimously by the members present at the meeting.
