Summary
In today’s meeting, the members discussed the arrest of Kendhoo Constituency member Mauroof Zakir during a protest by fishermen. As proposed by North Hulhumale' Constituency member Hussain Shareef and seconded by Madaveli Constituency member Ahmed Shameez, the committee unanimously decided to obtain information from Maldives Police Service regarding the concerns of the member’s lawyer claiming that the member was injured when he was arrested by Maldives Police Service and was denied the opportunity to meet his lawyer to discuss the matter. Maduvvari Constituency member Ahmed Zahir proposed to question Maldives Police Service whether the member was injured during the arrest as claimed by his lawyer.
