Summary
In this meeting the Committee reviewed the issue forwarded by the Parliament on providing parliament’s approval to the Presidential nominee for the position of the Information Commissioner. When the Chair opened the floor for discussion, Kolamaafushi Constituency Member Ibrahim Didi proposed the following: setting 23rd August 2026 as the deadline to complete reviewing this issue, to form an administrative panel of 3 employees as per the Standing Order of the People’s Majlis to review the documents submitted and determine the eligibility of the nominee, with the nominees being Aminath Asfa and Fathimath Nadha, and to open for public comments until 23rd August 2026, 18:00, and to interview the nominee at 21:00 on 23rd August 2026. This proposal was seconded by South Fuvahmulah Constituency Member Ibrahim Hussain.
This proposal was unanimously passed by all the members present.
