Summary
Today's meeting was held to review the issues submitted to the committee regarding debate time allocation for the Threshold-2 Petitions submitted to the Majlis; "Petition calling for withdrawal of the proposed amendment to the Decentralization of Administrative Areas Act" and "Petition calling for the passage of the proposed amendment to the Decentralization of Administrative Areas Act".
After examining these issues, Holhudhoo Constituency Member Abdul Sattar Mohamed proposed that to debate in Parliament the "Petition Calling for the Withdrawal of the Proposed Amendment to the Decentralization of Administrative Areas Act" and "Petition calling for the passage of the proposed amendment to the Decentralization of Administrative Areas Act" which has received the threshold 2 (two) signatures mentioned in Article 257-6 (c) of the Standing Order of the Parliament, as per Article 257-13 (b), the total time of debate on the said petitions shall be 1 (one) hour for each petition, and that during that 1 (one) hour time shall be distributed among the Parliament Members in accordance with the procedure laid down in Article 110 (b) of the Standing Order of the Parliament. The motions was supported by Alifushi Constituency Member Abdul Latheef Abdul Rahman. The motion was passed by a majority of the members present and voting at the committee meeting.
