In today’s meeting, the committee continued its work regarding the Bill on the ... Amendment to Act No. 2010/7 (Decentralization Act). As a first item, Henveiru Uthuru Constituency Member Ahmed Aifan proposed to extend the deadline of the Bill until 24th August 2026. This was seconded by Ungoofaaru Constituency Member Ibrahim Shifaz. When put to a vote, this proposal was passed unanimously by the members present and participating in the vote.

Afterwards, while the administrative desk was reading the Bill, Kendhoo Constituency Member Mauroof Zakir took the floor and proposed to proceed with the work on this Bill after taking into consideration the decision of the Petition Committee regarding the petitions submitted to that committee in relation to this Bill. This was seconded by Keyodhoo Constituency Member Mohamed Niushad. When put to a vote, this proposal failed to pass by the majority of the members present and participating in the vote.

Subsequently, Ungoofaaru Constituency Member Ibrahim Shifaz proposed to proceed with the work on the Bill as agendized. This was seconded by Vilifushi Constituency Member Hassan Waheed. When put to a vote, this proposal was passed by the majority of the members present and participating in the vote.

Afterwards, after the administrative desk read the Bill, Henveiru Uthuru Constituency Member Ahmed Aifan proposed to remove from the Bill the amendment proposed under Article 1 of the Bill to add a clause after Section 56-2 (l) of the said Act. This was seconded by Ungoofaaru Constituency Member Ibrahim Shifaz. When put to a vote, this proposal was passed by the majority of the members present and participating in the vote.

Furthermore, Henveiru Uthuru Constituency Member Ahmed Aifan proposed to add an article as Article 1 of the Bill to amend Section 56-2 (c) of the Act. This was seconded by Ungoofaaru Constituency Member Ibrahim Shifaz. When put to a vote, this proposal was passed by the majority of the members present and participating in the vote.

Henveiru Uthuru Constituency Member Ahmed Aifan also proposed to add an article as Article 2 of the Bill to amend Section 56-2 (d) of the Act. This was seconded by Ungoofaaru Constituency Member Ibrahim Shifaz. When put to a vote, this proposal was passed by the majority of the members present and participating in the vote.

Moreover, Henveiru Uthuru Constituency Member Ahmed Aifan proposed to add an article as Article 3 of the Bill to amend Section 65 (b) (1) of the Act. This was seconded by Naifaru Constituency Member Yasin Abdulla. When put to a vote, this proposal was passed by the majority of the members present and participating in the vote.

After that, Henveiru Uthuru Constituency Member Ahmed Aifan proposed to pass the article proposed as Article 4 of the Bill to add a clause after Section 107-2 (d) of the Act as proposed. When put to a vote, this proposal was passed by the majority of the members present and participating in the vote.

Next, Henveiru Uthuru Constituency Member Ahmed Aifan proposed to pass the article proposed as Article 5 of the Bill to add a clause after Section 131-1 (k) of the Act as proposed. When put to a vote, this proposal was passed unanimously by the members present and participating in the vote.

Then, Henveiru Uthuru Constituency Member Ahmed Aifan proposed to pass the article proposed as Article 5 of the Bill to add a clause after Section 131-2 (e) of the Act as proposed. When put to a vote, this proposal was passed by the majority of the members present and participating in the vote.

Afterwards, Henveiru Uthuru Constituency Member Ahmed Aifan proposed to add an article as Article 7 of the Bill. This was seconded by Naifaru Constituency Member Yasin Abdulla. When put to a vote, this proposal was passed by the majority of the members present and participating in the vote.

After that, Henveiru Uthuru Constituency Member Ahmed Aifan proposed to pass the article proposed as Article 8 of the Bill as proposed. When put to a vote, this proposal was passed by the majority of the members present and participating in the vote.

Finally, discussions were held regarding the petitions submitted to the Petition Committee, taking into consideration the number of signatures from the public on those petitions and the matters highlighted in the petitions.
