Summary

In today’s meeting, the committee continued its work on reviewing Bill to amend Act No. 7/2010 (Decentralization Act). As a first item, Henveiru Uthuru Constituency Member Ahmed Aifan proposed to extend the deadline of the completion of the Bill until 25th August 2026 14:00. This was seconded by Vilifushi Constituency Member Hassan Waheed. When put to a vote, this proposal was passed by the majority of the members present and participating in the vote.


Afterwards, Kendhoo Constituency Member Mauroof Zakir proposed to include the amendments sent to the bill by Galolhu Uthuru Constituency Member Mohamed Ibrahim after Section 56-2 (l) of the Act. This was seconded by Keyodhoo Constituency Member Mohamed Niushad. When put to a vote, this proposal was not passed.


Next, Keyodhoo Constituency Member Mohamed Niushad proposed to extend the deadline of the Bill until 30th September 2026. This was seconded by Kendhoo Constituency Member Mauroof Zakir. When put to a vote, this proposal was not passed.


Then, Henveiru Uthuru Constituency Member Ahmed Aifan proposed to add an additional number to Article 2 of the Bill. This was seconded by Ungoofaaru Constituency Member Ibrahim Shifaz. When put to a vote, this proposal was passed by the majority of the members present and participating in the vote.


Additionally, Kendhoo Constituency Member Mauroof Zakir proposed an additional amendment after the amendment previously proposed by him after Section 56-2 (l) of the Act. This was seconded by Keyodhoo Constituency Member Mohamed Niushad. When put to a vote, this proposal failed to pass by the majority of the members present and participating in the vote.


Finally, Henveiru Uthuru Constituency Member Ahmed Aifan proposed to pass the bill with amendment and to send the bill to the floor for consideration.This was seconded by Naifaru Constituency Member Yasin Abdulla. When put to a vote, this proposal was passed by the majority of the members present and participating in the vote.
