Summary

In this meeting the committee continued to review the matter referred by the President seeking parliamentary approval of the People's Majlis for the Maldives to accede and enact the Makkah Al-Mukarramah Convention of the Member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation on Anti-Corruption Law Enforcement Cooperation. Member for the North Mahchangolhi Constituency Ibrahim Mohamed proposed to give the parliamentary approval to accede and enact the Convention. This was seconded by Member for the South Fuvahmulah Constituency Ibrahim Hussain and was unanimously passed by the members present and voting.


Then, the committee reviewed the matter referred by the President seeking parliamentary approval of the People's Majlis for the Maldives to accede to the 'Optional Protocol to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities' and to submit the Instrument of Accession to the protocol's depository. Member for the North Mahchangolhi Constituency Ibrahim Mohamed proposed to set review deadline of 13 October 2026. This was seconded by Member for the South Fuvahmulah Constituency Ibrahim Hussain and was unanimously passed by the members present and voting.
