Summary
The agenda of today's meeting was to interview the candidates who satisfy the criteria mentioned in the Section 9 of Tax Administration Act (Law No. 3/2010) from the nominees submitted by the President for appointment of an individual to the post of Deputy Commissioner General of Taxation, pursuant to Section 8(a) of Tax Administration Act (Law No. 3/2010), which is determined by the committee's administrative panel under Section 223(a) of the Standing Orders of the People’s Majlis. In this regard, the administrative panel presented the names of the eligible candidates, as well as the reasons why certain candidates failed to meet the eligibility requirements.
Furthermore, following a request by the administrative panel for a committee decision regarding whether to permit the submission of additional documents beyond those submitted with the President’s letter, North Feydhoo Constituency member Ismail Nizar proposed to proceed with interviewing only those candidates found eligible by the panel, on the grounds that granting such an opportunity would prolong the process and establish an undesirable precedent and it was seconded by Faresmaathodaa Constituency member Ashraf Rasheed. Upon opening the proposal for voting, it was unanimously passed by all committee members present at the time of voting. Following the interviews conducted by the committee with the eligible candidates, members assigned marks as deemed appropriate. Funadhoo Constituency member Mohamed Mamdhooh proposed that candidates scoring an average of 75% (seventy-five percent) or above be deemed qualified for appointment to the post of Deputy Commissioner General of Taxation, that the committee recommend appointing one of these candidates to the post, and that the committee report be submitted to the Majlis and it was seconded by Faresmaathodaa Constituency member Ashraf Rasheed. Upon opening the proposal for voting, it was unanimously passed by all committee members present at the time of voting.
