Summary

In today's meeting, committee members discussed the petition “Calling on Parliament to Proceed with the Resolution Urging the Government to Establish General Grooming and Dress Code Guidelines for Employees Working in the Tourism Industry and urging the Parliament to proceed with the resolution and make a decision on it”.



Vaikaradhoo Constituency Member Hussain Ziyaad proposed that the resolution referred in the petition is currently being considered by the Economic Committee. Therefore, it would be appropriate to review the progress made by the committee in handling the resolution. His proposal was seconded by Madaveli Constituency Member Mohamed Shameez.

The proposal was subsequently approved unanimously by the committee members who were present and participated in the vote.


Following this, Madaveli Constituency Member Mohamed Shameez proposed that the petition titled “Petition Calling for the Removal of Expensive Health Insurance Benefits Provided to Members of Parliament, Which Are Not Available to the General Public” be referred to the Finance Committee for its opinion. The proposal was seconded by Ungoofaaru Constituency Member Ibrahim Shifaz.

The proposal was subsequently approved unanimously by the committee members who were present and participated in the vote.
