The Ambassador of China to the Maldives, H.E. Mr. Zhang Lizhong, paid a courtesy call on Hon. President Mohamed Nasheed, MP, Speaker of the People’s Majlis.

During the meeting held today at the People’s Majlis, the ambassador shared the updates on the Coronavirus cases and measures taken to prevent further spread of the virus. The ambassador highlighted that number of new coronavirus cases has declined while the number of people recovering from the virus has increased vastly. In addition, the ambassador highlighted that that only a few percentage suffering from the virus are in critical condition and that the death rate of the virus is very low.

Speaking at the meeting, the Speaker mentioned that it is the time for everyone to aid and help China in every way possible. The Speakers also mentioned that all the members of the Parliament wish good health and speedy recovery to all who are infected by the virus.

In addition, they highlighted the close and friendly relations that exist between the two countries and discussed the possible ways of further strengthening the relations between the two countries.
