Speaker of Parliament Hon. Abdul Raheem Abdullah leaves for India on an Official Visit

The Speaker of the People’s Majlis, Hon. Abdul Raheem Abdullah leaves for India on an official visit from 10-14 February 2025 at an invitation from Hon. Speaker of the Lok Sabha, and Chairman of the Rajya Sabha. The visit aims to strengthen bilateral relations between the two nations and enhance parliamentary cooperation.


During the visit, Speaker Abdul Raheem Abdullah will hold formal talks with his Indian counterparts and engage in discussions on enhancing legislative collaboration. Courtesy calls are scheduled with Hon. Speaker of Lok Sabha and Vice President of India and Chairman of the Rajya Sabha as well as other dignitaries.


The members of the People’s Majlis included in the Speaker’s delegation include, Hon. Ibrahim Shujau, MP for Baarashu Constituency; Hon. Mohamed Shahid, MP for Hulhudhoo Constituency; Hon. Dr. Anara Naeem, MP for Hura Constituency; Hon. Mohamed Afoo Hamid, MP for Kendhikulhudhoo Constituency; Hon. Abdulla Shareef, MP for Kelaa Constituency; Hon. Ahmed Aifan, MP for North Henveyru Constituency; Hon. Hussain Hameed, MP for Kudahuvadhoo Constituency; Hon. Asadhullah Shihab, MP for Gemanafushi Constituency; Hon. Mohamed Shamin Habeeb, MP for Kurendhoo Constituency.


This visit underscores the commitment of both nations to fostering a deeper parliamentary partnership and furthering diplomatic cooperation. The delegation’s engagements in India are expected to strengthen ties and enhance collaborative efforts in key areas of mutual interest.
