Information for Visitors

Sittings of the People’s Majlis are open to the public, except for certain occasions such as the Opening Sitting of the People’s Majlis for each year.

The People’s Majlis has four Public Viewing Galleries from where proceedings in the Majlis Chamber can be observed. The public has access to two public viewing galleries and is welcome to visit at any time a Preliminary Sitting is in progress.

Parliamentary Committee meetings, just like Parliamentary sittings, are also open to the public. There are instances when members of the public and the press may be excluded from all or any part of the plenary or Committee meetings if there is a compelling need to do so in the interests of public order or national security. Such a decision can be made if a majority of members present vote in favor of it.

Visitors to Majlis can enter the Majlis Secretariat building through the Western entrance but can proceed inside only after a security clearance and with a visitors pass issued by the Security Desk. The visitor must always keep this pass visible while inside the building and return it to the Security Desk before departing Majlis grounds.

People’s Majlis sittings are usually held on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of the following dates:
