General Purpose Committee 2nd meeting of the year 2024.

Summary

In today’s meeting, firstly committee reviewed the mandate of the General-Purpose committee and discussed on the working quorum and voting quorum of the committee. Following is the result of the vote taken regarding the working quorum and voting quorum of the committee.

 

Vote: To pass the working quorum of the committee as minimum 4 members and the voting quorum as minimum 6 members.

Total number of members : 11

Number of members present: 10

Voted Yes: 9

Voted against: 0

Abstain: 0

Required to Pass: 6

Result: Passed

Hence, the working quorum of the committee was passed as minimum 4 members and the voting quorum of the committee was passed as minimum 6 members.

 

Next, committee discussed on how to proceed with the issue sent to review the amendments of the Standing Order of the People’s Majlis and South Feydhoo MP, Ibrahim Didi proposed to give Secretary General, Counsel General, Speaker of the People’s Majlis and Parliamentary groups of the Majlis to send their amendments to the Standing Order by as 8th June 2024.

 

 Following are the vote details for this proposal.

Hence, the committee decided to give Secretary General, Counsel General, Speaker of the People’s Majlis and Parliamentary groups of the Majlis to send their amendments to the Standing Order by as 8th June 2024.


Lastly, committee reviewed the Proceeding of staff recruitment to the Parliamentary groups and the Majority leader of and Minority leader of People’s Majlis and decided to further review the issue in the next committee meeting.
