In today’s meeting the committee discussed the working quorum of the committee and Voting Quorum of the Committee. The Standing Order states that the working quorum of a committee shall not be lower than 1/3 of its members. Member for Huraa constituency, Anara Naeem proposed to set the working quorum to 4 members and Voting Quorum as 6 members. No member opposed therefore vote was taken for this proposal. The voting details are as follows.
Vote: Committee Working Quorum as 4 members and Voting Quorum as 6 members.

Voted No: 0
Abstain: 0
Total Voted: 10
No. of votes required to Pass: 6
Vote Result: Unanimously passed.
Then, the committee discussed the guideline to follow regarding the Bills submitted to the Committee. Member for South Hithadhoo constituency, Ibrahim Naazil proposed to decide on a guidneline when the bill is submitted to the Committee. Kurendhoo Constituency Member Shamin Habeeb seconded.

Vote: To decide on the guideline regarding the Bills submitted to the committee the time bills are submitted

Then, the committee discussed the guideline to follow regarding the issues/letters submitted by individuals. Member for South Hithadhoo constituency, Ibrahim Naazil proposed to adopt the guideline that has been followed by the 19th Majlis Judiciary Committee. The guideline states that the committee chairperson has the authority to gather information from state institutions at the initial stage and chair is to decide on the answer to be sent to the individual who submits the letter. Kurendhoo constituency Member Shamin Habeeb seconded this proposal
Also, Kendhoo Constituency member Mauroof Zakir requested to share the Letters sent from committee to be shared with the rest of the committee members before sending.
