Summary

In today's meeting, the Committee discussed and decided on the issues submitted to the 19th Majlis's Committee on Decentralization.

The Committee first reviewed the issue submitted by the Male' City Council regarding the Ministry of National Planning, Housing & Infrastructure, informing the Council of the termination of the Male' Streetscaping project on 23 June 2023. After the committee members discussed the issue, North Henveyru Constituency Member Ahmed Aifan proposed to obtain the current standing of the Male' City Council and the Ministry of Construction and Infrastructure on the issue and Naifaru Constituency member Yaaseen Abdulla seconded this.

Vote: The Ministry of National Planning, Housing & Infrastructure informed the Council of terminating the Male' Streetscaping project on 23 June 2023.

As a second issue, the Committee reviewed the V. Atoll Council's request to initiate efforts to reclaim funds received to the Ministry of Finance as rent for the previous four years pertaining to the premises "vaavu atholhu fihaara." Referring to the Ministry of Finance's reply on the issue, North Henveyru Constituency Member Ahmed Aifan proposed to ensure that the Ministry of Finance has paid the money as stated and, if so, to settle the matter. Keyodhoo Constituency Member Mohamed Niushad seconded the motion.

Thereafter, the members discussed the additional issues submitted. Regarding the issues, North Henveyru Constituency Member Ahmed Aifan proposed obtaining the necessary documents and legal advice, which was seconded by Kolamaafushi Constituency Member Ibrahim Didi.
