Summary

In today's meeting, the committee discussed the issue sent by the President on the matter of the appointment of ambassadors to foreign countries in accordance with Article 115(d) of the Constitution and Article 14 of Act No. 20/2021 (The Maldives Foreign Services Act).

North Kulhudhuffushi Constituency Member Mohamed Dawoodh proposed the appointment of Mohamed Taha as the Maldives' Ambassador to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. It was seconded by Vaikaradhoo Constituency Member Hussain Ziyad. Below are the voting details for the appointment.

 

Vote: To appoint Mr. Mohammed Taha as the Ambassador of the Maldives to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

Therefore, it has been approved to appoint Mr. Mohamed Taha as the Ambassador of the Maldives to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

 

After that, Kendhikulhudhoo Constituency Member Mohamed Afoo Hamid proposed the appointment of Abdul Raheem Abdul Latheef as the Maldives' Ambassador to the Republic of Turkey. It was seconded by Central Hulhumale' Constituency Member Abdulla Shazeem. Below are the voting details for the appointment.

 

Vote: To appoint Mr. Abdul Raheem Abdul Latheef as Ambassador of Maldives to the Republic of Turkey.

Result: Passed

 

Therefore, it has been approved to appoint Mr. Abdul Raheem Abdul Latheef as the Ambassador of the Maldives to the Republic of Turkey.

The committee then discussed the date on which the sub-committee formed to review the annual reports of the Ministry of foreign Affairs could complete its work. The Committee also decided to meet with the Ministry of foreign Affairs and ask them to prepare a presentation on the achievements of the key performance indicators. And then the committee will decide a date for the completion of the work of the sub-committee.
