Summary

1.  In today’s meeting, first committee discussed regarding the letter send from Prosecutor generals office on an introductory meeting with the Judiciary Committee. Huraa Constituency member Anara Naeem proposed to invite the prosecutor general office for the meeting in the coming week. Holhudhoo Constituency member Abdul Sattar Mohamed seconded this proposal.

2.  Then the Committee discussed regarding the introductory meetings with all the related institutions under Judiciary Committee mandate. Hulhudhoo constitieuncy member Mohamed Shahid propose to invite all the institution coming month. This proposal was seconded by Kurendhoo constituency member Mohamed Shamin Habeeb.

3.  Then Committee discussed on how the meetings should be proceeded with the reviewing of the Annual Reports. Committee decided to request for a summary of Annual Reports between the year 2019 and 2022 in the introductory meetings to be held with each institution. This was proposed by Kendhoo Constituency Member Mauroof Zakir and seconded by Feydhoo Constituency member Ismail Nizar.

4.  Then the committee discussed the Letter from Department of Judicial Administration in 2023 regarding Criminal Court building, Hulhudhoo Constituency member Mohamed Shahid proposed to request for a meeting with department of Judicial Administration, Criminal Court and Judicial Service commission to get an update on this Issue. This proposal was seconded by Faresmathoda Constituency Member Ashraf Rasheed.

Vote: To request a meeting with Department of Judicial Administration, Judicial Service Commission and Criminal Court regarding the Letter sent from DJA on Criminal Court Building.

5.  Letter sent from Judicial Service Commision regarding Employment Tribunal, stating that 6. The Employment Tribunal delivers its verdict without preparing Summary Report, and because of this the period to appeal is obstructed. Committee decided to send a Letter to Employment Tribunal to check if they have any guideline on how the summary report has to be prepared and difficulties the tribunal is facing on this. This was proposed by Kendhoo Constituency Member Mauroof Zakir and seconded by Faresmaathoda member Ashraf Rasheed.
