Summary

Today, the first item on the agenda was to discuss the issue sent by the Human Rights Commission of the Maldives regarding the Labor Relations Authority (LRA), stating that the Labor Relations Authority did not share information on employment related cases and does not cooperate with them. 

Once the chairman opened the floor, Ihavandhoo Constituency Member Ahmed Naseer noted that since this issue was submitted to the 19th Majlis, it is possible that it is already resolved. The member then proposed to send a letter to HRCM to get an update on the issue before proceeding any further. It was seconded by Central Fuvahmulah Constituency Member Ali Fazaad.

Hence, Members present in the meeting unanimously decided to Send a letter to HRCM, to get an update on the issue and clarify whether the matter is resolved or not.

 

The Second item on the agenda was to discuss an issue sent by an individual stating he did not get the opportunity to attend the 2024 Hajj pilgrimage despite making the full payment to the Hajj corporation in the year 2019. Yet, some individuals in his island who made the payment in the year 2023 to the Hajj corporation were able to attend the 2024 Hajj. Regarding this issue Central Fuvahmulah Constituency Member Ali Fazaad proposed to send a letter to that ministry requesting their reply to the complainant, (as he attached a copy of the letter he sent to the ministry), and all the relevant documents related to the issue both from the ministry and the Hajj corporation. It was seconded by Ihavandhoo Constituency Member Ahmed Naseer.

Hence, Members present in the meeting unanimously decided to send a letter to the Ministry of Islamic Affairs requesting their reply to complainant and all the documents related to the issue both from the ministry and Hajj corporation.

Then, the chairman opened the floor to submit any issue under other matters (Ehenihen) and since no issue was raised, he concluded today’s meeting.
