Summary
The agenda for today's meeting was to elect the Chairperson and the Deputy Chairperson of the Committee. Director, Legal Affairs, Afzaal AbdulSattar conducted the selection of the Chairperson and the Deputy Chairperson of the Committee.
Vilimale’ Constituency Member Mohamed Ismail proposed to elect Inguraidhoo Constituency Member Ibrahim Falah as the Chair of the Committee. It was seconded by South Hithadhoo Constituency Member Ibrahim Nazil ަ and and Inguraidhoo Constituency Member Ibrahim Falah was elected unanimously as the Chairperson of the Committee.
As for the Deputy Chairperson of the Committee, Central Machangolhi Constituency Member Ahmed Xamyr proposed South Henveyru Constituency Member Hussain Imran Latheef, and was seconded by South Hithadhoo Constituency Member Ibrahim Nazil and South Henveyru Constituency Member Hussain Imran Latheef was elected unanimously as the Deputy Chairperson of the Committee.
The meeting was then presided by the Chairperson of the Committee. Furthermore, the committee discussed the working quorum and the voting quorum of the committee. The Standing Order states that the working quorum of a committee shall not be lower than 1/3 of its members.
When the Chairperson opened the floor for the members, South Hithadhoo Constituency Member Ibrahim Nazil proposed the working quorum of the committee as 6 members. It was seconded by Vilimale’ Constituency Member Mohamed Ismail and was passed unanimously.
Lastly, the working quorum of the committee was discussed. Vilimale’ Constituency Member Mohamed Ismail proposed the voting quorum of the committee as 7 members. It was seconded by Central Machangolhi Constituency Member Ahmed Xamyr and this proposal was passed unanimously.
