Summary
In this meeting committee discussed about deadline for completion of the review of the Foreign Investment’s Bill, Amendment bill to the Act no:18/2014 (Business Registration Act), and Amendment bill to the Act no:2/2006 (Maldives Securities Act) and how to proceed with the bills. In this regard, Hoarafushi constituency member Ali Moosa proposed to set 21st August 2024 as a deadline to complete committee works of the bills and it was seconded by Kendhikulhudhoo constituency member Mohamed Afoo Hamid and was passed unanimously.
Secondly, Hoarafushi constituency member Ali Moosa proposed to seek public comments for the bill and to open for public comments till 19th August 2024; and it was seconded by Kendhikulhudhoo constituency member Mohamed Afoo Hamid and was passed unanimously.
Furthemore, the committee discussed stakeholders related to the bill and Hoarafushi constituency member Ali Moosa proposed to to get written comments from Ministry of Economic Development and Trade and Capital Market Development Authority and it was seconded by Kendhikulhudhoo constituency member Mohamed Afoo Hamid and was passed unanimously.
Lastly, the committee began review of the amendment bill to the Act no. 23/2010 (Copyright Act) but the committee decided to postpone the review in order to allow members more time to go through the amendments proposed by Ministry of Economic Development and Trade and also to wait till committee gets further clarifications from Attorney General’s office regarding some amendments proposed.
