The first item on today’s agenda was to review the matter referred by the President to appoint a member to the Elections Commission. When the floor was opened to decide on a deadline for the completion of this matter from the committee, Thulusdhoo Constituency Member Ibrahim Naseem proposed to set 28^th October 2024 as the deadline to complete this matter. This proposal was seconded by West Henveyru Constituency Member Ali Ibrahim.

This proposal was seconded by West Henveyru Constituency Member Ali Ibrahim.

The second item on the agenda was to discuss and decide on the letters submitted to the committee. When the committee was opened for discussion regarding a letter received from the President’s Office on the issue of some news spread by registered and unregistered media, Kelaa Constituency Member Abdulla Shareef proposed to bring members of Maldives Broadcasting Commission and Maldives Media Council to a committee meeting and inquire about the issue. This proposal was seconded by Thulusdhoo Constituency Member Ibrahim Naseem.

Lastly, Thulusdhoo Constituency Member Ibrahim Naseem proposed on extending the deadline to 15^th May 2025 for the committee to complete the work of the resolution moved by Baarashu Constituency Member Ibrahim Shujau to determine the views of the 20th Majlis on the increasing number of members of parliament every five years. This proposal was seconded by West Henveyru Constituency Member Ali Ibrahim.
