Committee on Decentralization
22 Apr 2025 Number M20/M/LM/2025/05
In today’s meeting, the Committee met with the UNDP’s Consultant, Mr. Islam Jusufi, following a request to engage with the Committee regarding a white paper containing a set of policy and legislative recommendations. The recommendations are based on a critical review of the decentralization trajectory thus far, considered within the socioeconomic context of the Maldives as a small island, upper-middle-income country.
Attendees from UNDP:
1- Ms. Yasmeen Rasheed, Assistant Resident Representative, UNDP
2- Mr. Islam Jusufi, International Consultant, UNDP
3- Ms. Hamdha Abdul Rahman, Project Analyst, UNDP
During the meeting, the Committee members and Mr. Jusufi discussed the key points of the white paper. Following the discussions, it was agreed that the Consultant would share a set of questionnaires with the Committee members. The members will review and discuss the questions, after which a follow-up meeting will be scheduled to share their view with the Consultant (UNDP).
