Summary
In today's meeting, the committee reviewed the issue submitted stating that the government failed to provide equitable opportunities to purchase government housing units under the settlement agreement formulated between the government and the victims of the case where SeaLife Global Private Limited failed to construct housing units after collecting booking fees and down payments under the agreement signed between Housing Development Corporation and SeaLife Global Private Limited to construct 3,000 (three thousand) housing units in Hulhumalé. In this regard Ihavandhoo constituency member Ahmed Naseer proposed to share the information received from Housing Development Corporation Limited regarding the matter with the member who submitted the issue, which was seconded by Thoddoo constituency member Hussain Sameer. This proposal was passed unanimously by the members present and voting.
Following that, the committee reviewed the information received from Maldives Ports Limited regarding the issue submitted concerning the challenges faced by cargo vessels transporting goods to the atolls due to the new regulation implemented by Maldives Ports Limited regarding the use of Malé North Harbor. Accordingly, Maavashu constituency member Ahmed Shakir proposed to meet with Maldives Ports Limited to further clarify information regarding the matter, which was seconded by Thoddoo constituency member Hussain Sameer. This proposal was passed by the majority of the members present and voted.
Next, the committee reviewed the issue submitted regarding the public disclosure of the queue list of individuals who have made payments to register for the Hajj pilgrimage maintained by Maldives Hajj Corporation Limited. In this regard, Gadhdhoo constituency member Mohamed Ali proposed to share the information received from the corporation regarding the matter with the member who submitted the issue, which was seconded by Komandoo constituency member Mohamed Ibrahim This motion was passed unanimously by the members present and voting.
Subsequently, regarding the proposal to meet with the Anti-Corruption Commission to clarify information on cases investigated by the Commission concerning state-owned enterprises and measures that can be taken to strengthen these companies, since the meeting with the Commission had already taken place and the information had been clarified, it was passed to conclude and remove the matter from the committee's status by the majority of members present and voting.
Last of all, the committee unanimously passed to remove the issue regarding the matter submitted by the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation Limited (MMPRC) requesting to meet with the Committee concerning the Committee's review report on the status of MMPRC and the Maldives Integrated Tourism Development Corporation Limited (M20/R/SOE/2025/02), since the meeting was postponed at the company's request and no subsequent date was provided.
