Maldivian Parliament Shifts Online in Order to Continue Functioning During COVID-19 Crisis
MALE CITY: The work of the Maldivian parliament is to shift online, in order to allow the functions of the legislature to continue unimpeded during the COVID-19 crisis.
The first session of parliament to be held online, using Microsoft Teams software, will be held on Monday 30 March 2020. Monday’s parliamentary agenda will be published on Sunday.
A rehearsal of the online parliament was held on Saturday evening, to afford Members the chance to get used to the software, and to iron out any glitches or confusion.
The parliamentary sessions will also be broadcasted LIVE on local TV channels and streamed live on the Majlis YouTube channel.
