The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye, H.E. Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, paid a courtesy call on Hon. President Mohamed Nasheed, MP, Speaker of the People’s Majlis.
During the meeting held today at the People’s Majlis, the Speaker highlighted the close and friendly relations that exist between the Maldives and Turkey. He also expressed appreciation to the Turkish Government’s continued efforts and assistance provided to the Maldives. In addition, they discussed possible ways of further strengthening the relations between the People’s Majlis and Türkiye Büyük Millet Meclisi.
Speaking at the meeting, the Minister of Foreign Affairs conveyed his assurances that Turkey will always extend its full cooperation to the Maldives for its development. He further expressed his resolve in strengthening relations between the two countries in his capacity as the Foreign Minister.
The Speaker was accompanied by Hon. Eva Abdulla, the Deputy Speaker of People’s Majlis, MP, Uza. Fathimath Niusha, Secretary General alongside some other members of Parliament.
