Summary
Under Article 93 (a) of the Constitution, Maldives’ accession to the “Optional Protocol to Prevent, Suppress and Punish Trafficking in Persons especially Women and Children” (Supplementing the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime) was sent for review to the Committee on National Security today. Article 93 (a) of the Constitution stipulates that such international conventions can only be endorsed in Maldives following parliamentary consent.
