Summary

In this meeting, members of the Committee deliberated on the questions they would ask the Prosecutor General when the Committee met with him. Members of the Committee proposed that they asked the Prosecutor General questions regarding the mandate of the Prosecutor General's Office and the functioning of the office. Furthermore, the Committee decided to acquire information regarding the number of cases submitted to the Prosecutor General's Office, and other policies adopted by the Office regarding closed-door court sessions and ensuring the confidentiality of documents. Afterwards, the Committee decided to meet with Mohamed Zahir (M. Apiya) who sent a letter outlining how the functioning of the Employment Tribunal could be improved. MP Ali Hussain of Kendhoo Constituency proposed that it was not necessary for all members of the Employment Tribunal to be part of this meeting. This proposal was seconded by MP Jeehan Mahmood of Hinnavaru Constituency.
