Committee met STO and FSM’s related officials regarding oil price rate of MIFCO being higher than the other parties in the market and difficulties faced by Fishermen due to higher oil prices which was proposed by North Thinadhoo constituency Member Abdul Mughnee. STO revealed that they have informed to add a marging to oil prices sold by the company, but they found that the margin have been deviated over the period. STO have decided to reduce the margin and will ensure that oil sold to fishermen to be at a competitive rate. Quality of oil imported by STO is higher than the competitors and FSM plays distributors role of STO. STO highlighted that some companies in Maldives import and sell oil in the Maldives illegally and there is no regulation to govern that sector.
