Meeting with Minister of Fisheries, Marine Resources and Agriculture to clarify about the investment opportunities, license to buy fish from local fishermen by foreigners, assistance provided to fishermen after the new Fisheries Act. In this meeting minister highlighted that with Fisheries Act, they were able to address concerns of E.U, management plans were published to for development of sustainable fisheries, discussions are ongoing to allow two expatriates in fishing vessels upon requests by fishermen, recruitment of rangers as per the Act is in process, required trainings were given to rangers and ministry wishes to provide services through decentralization, opportunities to invest in fishing activities is opened to foreigners as per the guidelines and government is focused on value added products rather than exporting raw fish to foreign markets.
