In today's meeting, the Joint Committee appointed a chairperson and a vice chairperson. Director Aishath Shifa and Deputy Director Afzaal Abdul Sattar administered the process to appoint a chairperson. Motion proposed by MP for North Mahchangolhi Constituency Mohamed Rasheed and seconded by MP for Holhudhoo Constituency Yoonus Ali, to appoint MP for Kendhikulhudhoo Constituency Ahmed Eesa as chairperson of the Joint Committee was passed unanimously. Motion proposed by MP for Ihavandhoo Constituency Mohamed Shifau and seconded by MP for Baarashu Constituency Ahmed Abdulla, to appoint MP for Dhiggaru Constituency Ikram Hassan as vice chairperson of the Joint Committee was passed unanimously. Motion proposed by MP for Baarashu Constituency Ahmed Abdulla and seconded by MP for Kurendhoo Constituency Abdul Ghanee Abdul Hakeem, to prescribe 7 members as working quorum and 9 members as voting quorum of the Joint Committee was also passed unanimously. Further in today's meeting, the Joint Committee set 30 November 2021 as the deadline to finish its work on the "Bill on Registration of Births and Deaths and Issuing ID Cards and Birth Certificates". The Joint Committee also decided to conduct meetings with relevant stakeholders to discuss the Bill.
