Meeting with Maldives Customs Service and Ministry of Fisheries, Marine Resources and Agriculture to inquire about the the reasons why plants and animals cannot be imported to other international airports except Velana International Airport. In this regard, the Ministry stated that difficulties are being faced in importing plants and animals to areas other than Male' city due to lack of infrastructure in the islands and efforts are under way to establish a regional quarantine facility in South (Addu) and north of Maldives. The committee then decided to meet with the Maldives Civil Aviation Authority and Maldives Ports Limited to clarify the standards required at international airports and ports.
