Firstly in this meeting discussions were carried out with Ministry of Economic Development officials regarding the resolution to facilitate the services of cargo boats in Ihavandhippolhu proposed by Hoarafushi constituency member Hon. Ahmed Saleem. In this regard minister of Economic Development stated that surveys on development of international transshipment port in North of the Maldives were carried out twice and results of the surveys showed that it was not commercially viable but insisted on the project is very much viable as a country. Furthermore, ministry also stated that the if possible government will insist on investing on the project and encourage for such investments and discussions were carried out with a new plan. In the meantime discussions are being held with the relevant stakeholders to make necessary changes in the existing regulations to provide services such as transfer of crew, bunkering and security clearances. Later on committee set 31 March 2022 as a deadline to complete committee works of Amendment bill on Small and Medium enterprises Act and also decided to send the bill to relevant stakeholders and open for public comments.
