The meeting today conducted the interview of Dr. Salma Rasheed (M.Vilaadhashuge) regarding her appointment as the Permanent Representative of Maldives to the United Nations Office at Geneva, in compliance with Article 115(D) of the Constitution. Furthermore, the Committee discussed on the matter of Maldives being a signatory to the “Agreement under the United Nations Convention on the Law od the sea on the Conservation and Sustainable use of Marine Biological Diversity of Areas beyond National Jurisdiction” and decided to hold the decision regarding signing the Treaty, until certain clarifications are made from the relevant authority regarding the annual contribution of the member states of the Treaty.
