In today's meeting, the committee decided to clarify whether the vice-chair of Privatization and Corporatization Board was registered in any political party after the appointment, as the committee received various complaints that the official has been involved in political activities and was registered in a political party after his appointment, which is prohibited under the Privatization and Corporatization act (3/2013) clause 10 (lh), as it mentions “the chair and vice-chair of the board must not be a member of any political party”. Then, the committee decided to meet with Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company Limited and Privatization and Corporatization Board regarding the suspension of the company’s CEO for 14 days, as even if the suspension has been lifted, the cause of suspension has not been resolved yet.
