Summary

The meeting scheduled to sit with Minister of Finance was postponed as the Minister was unable to attend and the committee decided to discuss the written information sent by Ministry of Finance regarding the financial and economic state of the government.

Dhiggaru Constituency member proposed that in addition to the meeting scheduled with Ministry of Finance, to conduct another meeting with Maldives Monetary Authority and Auditor General's Office to discuss regarding the financial and economic state of the country, which was seconded by Baarashu Constituency member Ibrahim Shujau. The committee decided to go with the proposal as it was not objected by any members present.

Following this proposal, South Hulhumale' Constituency member Dr. Ahmed Shamheed proposed to invite Maldives Inland Revenue Authority to the mentioned meeting with Maldives Monetary Authority and Auditor General's Office as well. It was seconded by Hanimaadhoo Constituency member Abdul Ghafoor Moosa. The details of how members voted are below.

Hence, the committee concluded to sit with Maldives Monetary Authority, Auditor General's Office and Maldives Inland Revenue Authority in a single meeting.


After that, Baarashu Constituency member Ibrahim Shujau proposed to schedule a meeting with Ministry of Economic Development and Trade after the meetings mentioned above, to obtain further information regarding the economic state of the country. It was seconded by Kelaa Constituency member Abdulla Shareef and passed as it was not objected by any members.


Furthermore, the committee discussed regarding a way to review the audit reports received from Auditor General's Office. Eydhafushi Constituency member Ahmed Saleem proposed and Hanimaadhoo Constituency member Abdul Ghafoor Moosa

seconded to form a sub-committee of 5 members to review the audit reports and to include these members in the sub-committee:

  1. Kelaa Constituency member Abdulla Shareef
  2. Hanimaadhoo Constituency member Abdul Ghafoor Moosa
  3. Funadhoo Constituency member Mohamed Mamdhooh
  4. Gemanafushi Constituency member Asadhulla Shihab
  5. Central Hithadhoo constituency member Ahmed Azaan Marzooq
