In this meeting, the Committee proceeded to review the Bill on the Amendment to the Judicature Act and the letter from Chief Justice to the Speaker regarding the amendment of the Judicial Service Commission Act. The Committee decided to acquire information from Ministry of Finance regarding the financial implication if the Bill on the Amendment to the Judicature Act was passed. Furthermore, the MP Moosa Siraj of Fonadhoo Constituency proposed that the deadline set to conclude the work on Bill on the Amendment to the Judicature Act should be extended. This proposal was seconded by MP Jeehan Mahmood of Hinnavaru Constituency. Hence, the Committee unanimously decided to extend the deadline to 17th July 2019. Moreover, the Committee concluded that more time was need to review the letter from Chief Justice to the Speaker.
