Meeting with Minister of Economic Development and selective employment related companies regarding the new Xpat System, changes in expatriate employment regulations, changes to the issuance of work quota and difficulties faced by the companies due to changes brought by the ministry. Ministry gave a presentation about changes in Xpat System, changes in expatriate employment regulations and answered queries from members as well as companies present at the meeting. Minister highlighted that all requests about expatriate employment approval will be process through the X-pat online system, deadline given to submit the documents was extended to May 2021,a quota fee will be charged, a payment of deposit is required to repatriate the employee or to pay any other requirement if such a situation arises, registration of all expatriate workers in maldives and ministry is addressing the difficulties faced by the companies in using Xpat system.
