Summary Committee discussed the Counsel General’s opinion regarding the Bill to Ensure Continued Functioning of Decentralized Government 2020. The Counsel General was of the opinion that only a constitutional amendment can extend the term of outgoing local councilors until the delayed local council elections can be held. The committee summoned the sponsor of the Bill to further discuss the Bill and additional articles proposed by the sponsor. Further, the committee decided that while reviewing the Bill, the committee will consider the opinions from the Attorney General, Counsel General, LGA, the sponsor and the public.
