In today's meeting, the Sub Committee discussed the response received to its letter to the Communications Authority of Maldives to clarify: reasons for not stipulating the amount of fees and rules for collecting fees in the Rules of Procedure of the Communications Authority of Maldives (regulation number: R035/2021); and the estimated duration for amending the Rules of Procedure to stipulate the amount of fees and rules for collecting fees, in accordance with section 33 of the Communications Authority of Maldives Act (law number: 42/2015). Following discussions, MP for Kurendhoo Constituency Abdul Ghanee Abdul Hakeem proposed a motion seconded by MP for Kelaa Constituency Ibrahim Shareef, to further clarify this issue in the meeting with the Authority scheduled for 26 August 2021. This motion was unanimously passed. The Sub Committee also decided to recommend formulating an implementation plan to further strengthen the ITC sector, in its Report on the Issue submitted to assess the state of "information technology, science and communication" sector in the Maldives. The Committee decided to clarify in the meeting scheduled for 26 August 2021, the estimated duration for the formulation of such plan by the Communications Authority; and to also request the Chief Technology Officer at the President's Office and officials of the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change & Technology to attend the meeting.
