Summary

Meeting with officials from MMPRC, MITDC regarding issue of decline in number of yachts arrivals in Ha.Uligam. Reasons for decline in yacht arrivals based on the meetings with all the related parties in this issue are; 1. No MPL or transport authority service available in HA.Uligam for port clearance and delay in receiving service. 2. No seperation in cargo ships, luxury vessels, personnel vessels in rules and regulations and as well as the charges and charges are high. 3. Sanitation Certificate mandatory for all vessels. 4. Too much time taken to process permits required, no service available on public holidays and difficulty in processing documents from different authorities with no single window service availability. 5. No properly build nor operated yacht marinas in maldives to facilitate the yachts. 6.No designated landing area or jetty in Male' or Hulhumale' for yachts, crew and guests 7. Difficulty in finding agents and processing documents without an agent is not easy since it takes more than 48 hours for it. 8. Additional permits to be taken if vessels sail to Male' or Hulhumale' area and difficulty in anchoring while waiting for safe anchorage certificate.
