In this meeting, the Joint Committee worked on the Bill on Registration of Births and Deaths and Issuing ID Cards and Birth Certificates. The Joint Committee unanimously voted to pass a proposal by Hon. Ibrahim Naseem, MP for Thulusdhoo Constituency, seconded by Hon. Abdul Ghanee Abdul Hakeem, MP for Kurendhoo Constituency, to extend the deadline to finish its work on the Bill until 30 April 2022. Further in this meeting, the Joint Committee decided to request for additional information from the Attorney General’s Office, the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Technology, and the Maldives Monetary Authority regarding the Bill. A proposal by Hon. Ibrahim Naseem, MP for Thulusdhoo Constituency to constitute a Sub Committee to discuss the Bill, was adopted by the Joint Committee. The Sub Committee consists of the following Members: 1. Hon. Mohamed Shahid, MP for Funadhoo Constituency; 2. Hon. Mohamed Rasheed, MP for North Mahchangolhi Constituency; 3. Hon. Yoonus Ali, MP for Holhudhoo Constituency; 4. Hon. Ibrahim Naseem, MP for Thulusdhoo Constituency; and 5. Hon. Mohamed Shifau, MP for Ihavandhoo Constituency.
